Group Meetings

On Thursday I met with a few of my fellow classmates to discuss our projects and for people to give advice on how my project is turning out. I began discussing my film opening and everyone seemed to really enjoy the idea. I talked to them about the masks idea and how all the characters will be wearing masks. They really didn't seem to like the idea. Someone said to me that I shouldn't have it because it would block out the characters face and the audience wouldn't be able to differentiate between characters. I agreed with her on that part. I asked her if it would be better to just not use masks at all and if so what should I do. She relied back saying that each character should have some sort of item on them to stand out, like a necklace, or a beard. This group critique really helped me out to improve my film opening. I love doing group critiques, I love helping others and i really enjoy when other people help me.

The blogs are coming to an end soon because i am just about down with the film opening. I can't wait for your guys to see the final outcome. It loos so good!!

Broken....

The title of the film is going to be knows as Broken. The only other name I could have thought of for this film could be Stolen. I just feel like the word Broken is a sick name and works perfeictally for this film.

I chose Broken because the whole purpose of the film is to lead up to a heist. The character development within the film describes all the characters as a little messed up inside or "Broken".

The title would look something like this:        Broken
If I can try and make an edit for the film, I was thinking of doing the title come up as the screen is dark. The word will be slowly coming up on the screen as the letters appear one at a time. And you hear someone typing in the background as if someone is typing the words onto the screen. This is all an idea and would be pretty cool if I could make it work. 

Ill let you guys know  if anything changes with the title and everything. As of now, I think everything is looking pretty good.

Non copy right music

I've been searching up different websites for noncopy right music and I have found a website called Epidemic Sound. It was really easy to use, all I had to do was sign up and I was able to listen and download any noncopy right music. Thi website was so helpful.

I have come down to two different tracks for which I will be using in the film opening.

Track 1:   Your action 3

Track 2:   Zone 611

Both of these tracks work well with this scene. I have asked all of my family members and they all say that track 2 works best. This music will be playing in the background throughout the whole video. I needed music like this to spice up the film. Most if not all films have background music to heighten the mood. Although the music is nothing special, it is a key factor in my film opening.

If I end up changing the background music I will let you guys know.

Today was the final day of shooting and everything went well. I'm going to start the editing process this week. I am going to edit on I movie because I have it on both my phone and computer. I have been watching a lot of movies with crime/thriller genres and it's helping me out a lot with how I picture my film opening. I can't wait for you guys to see my project. Speak to you soon!!!

Third day

It’s the third day of shooting and things are going better than planned. All the actors are doing a great job and everything is going great. I have been using my Tripod and it’s a bit wiggly at the top when I move the camera. I’ve been dealing with it buts it’s been pretty annoying. I’ll let you guys know how it goes tomorrow.

Shooting conitnued

So I continued filming today. I haven’t been filming due to my cast not being able to cooperate with timing and scheduling. The only problem I have is that we don’t have a girl still. Not that big of a deal but I think we can work through it. I found masks at target which are pretty cool. I’m going to keep you up to date on any other issues I’m having on the next blog.

So I have talked to all of my cast and they are all saying that Wednesday would be the perfect day for us to continue filming. On Wednesday hopefully, we can get everything done so I can have time to edit everything. I'm trying to not film during spring break because I don't want to risk someone going away and we cannot finish filming. I asked for them to make sure they have all the same clothes they wore today and make sure they are cleaned. I am super excited to finish shooting because I can't wait to see how this whole thing will turn out.

We met with groups in class on Thursday to talk about all of our projects. I went first and told everyone about my film opening idea and showed them all my blog. They seemed to love my idea but not so much my blog. For my blog they told me it should be a little longer. Heres a list of all the great ideas they told me to consider adding to my film:

• Try not to make the setting a bank, maybe try something different because making a bank could be very difficult.
• The criminals should all have something unique about one an other, maybe a mask or a pin.(I'm considering getting all superhero masks)
• Don't put rock music in the film, instead put thrillerish music

Today was the day

Today was the day where I began shooting my film opening. There were little bumps in the road for the first day because once we got to my dad's office the door was locked. I kept on trying to reach him but he wasn't answering because he was in a meeting with one of his clients. We had to wait two hours until he answered my call and gave me the keys. This messed up with our whole schedule because we lost a lot of shooting time. The only scenes we got covered as the opening scene with the car pulling up and the criminals walking into the office. Our next day for filming is going to be sometime this week. I'm going to talk with all of the cast to see what day is best for them.

Shooting

Next Saturday will be the first day of shooting. I have gotten all the materials I need for it including microphones, a place to shoot, actors, and costumes. My friend's jack, Dylan, Pablo, and Jeremy are all going to be acting. The actors will all be wearing dark clothing. Additional purchases I'm going to buy is some type of black toy gun and spray paint it all black. I will be going to target and buying one there. One problem that I may have is that I do not have a female actress. I have asked almost all of my girlfriends but they say they are busy. Img going to be looking around the school to see if I can ask anyone for help. I'm hoping to find a girl for the part because I think people will enjoy having a girl as a robber, it makes her seem really bad ass.

Storyboard

So, I started on my storyboard and I think its pretty good so far. I am not an artist so this is the best I can do.

I will be continuing to do more but as of now, this is all I have. The first box is the car pulling up to the bank. The car will stop in front of the camera and the camera and the shot will be a medium shot. The next shot will be in the car facing the front seats and the driver says "get out". The next shot will be the robbers getting out of the car and walking up to the bank. The next shot I will be adding will be them opening the door and going inside. Then the robber will be inside next to the register lady and pull out his gun. I will finish the storyboard and upload it for you guys to see. 

Crime/Thriller

I'm going to get more in-depth with the genre for this film. I chose Crime/Thriller primarily because I believe the best movies come from this genre. In Crime thrillers, The ones committing the crime are usually loved by the audience. Even if the person committing the crime is doing something horrible, the audience might think what the criminal is doing is badass. The most important things in a crime/thriller movie are violence, suspense, and the way the actors are being portrayed.

For example, in the movie memento by Christopher Nolan, the main character continuously talks to a person on the phone, although we do not know who the person he is talking to, we assume he/she is someone good.  Leanord (the main character) talks about how a patient he worked with in the past known as Sammy, had the same mental issues he has now, where he loses his memory after a certain period of time. When Eleanor is explaining how severe Sammy's illness is to the person on the phone we see Sammy sitting in a chair in the hospital with doctors all wondering by him.

Christopher Nolan added a little easter egg to this scene. Very close to the end of 14 seconds we see the doctor pass by Sammy and Leanord is sitting there instead of sammy. This whole time the audience is forced to believe that leonard is telling a story about Sammy when really he is talking about himself.
The plot twists and confusion is crime thrillers is a key reason as to why they are my favorite.

Tech!!!!

Technology is a big part of this project. I have pretty good technology to do everything. I have an I phone 8 and a Macbook Pro which both have iMovie. iMovie is my main platform for how i will be editing and making my film. I will be filming using my iPhone 8 plus which has an extraordinary camera. I recently also bought a tripod from amazon for $20. Another thing I might consider buying is a microphone. I have looked at other film openings from previous years and i think the key thing that most people are missing is good sound for the video.

I just looked on amazon and i found a good price for a microphone that is compatible with an iPhone. once this arrives and i use it, my film will sound unbelievable. The microphone is called a Saramonic SmartMic Microphone. It was only $20 for the microphone, but i think its going to be worth it because i will be using it for not only this project, but the future.

First things first

For the past week, i have been thinking of film opening ideas, I've been coming to the conclusion that it's pretty hard. The idea that I think will work out the most is a robbery scene, in this scene is going to have four of my friends be the actors and we will film it at my dad's office. The synopsis of the scene is going to be four people in a car all wearing black.  As the car stops the driver tell the people in the car to get out. The three criminals all begin to put on their masks and get out of the car at the same time. They casually walk into the building and point the gun at the lady at the front desk. This is pretty much the general idea of what I will be filming.

The Genre for this film opening is going to be Crime/Thriller. I am looking for a Dark night kind of vibe with the bank robbery scene in the opening of the movie by Christopher Nolan.

My name is Michael Tuaty and welcome to my Blog. This is my first blog ever so I'm not going to be totally good at this but ill give it a try. First off, I would like to begin with a little background on myself.  I was born in Weston Florida, and I have lived here ever since. I grew up loving movies as my mother and I would always watch movies when I was younger. I believe I became passionate about movies when I was 8 and my father came home with the Original Star Wars movies. He was saying that i have to watch these in order to live. I gave a New Hope a look and I couldn't stop watching it. I didn't want to stop watching the movies that I faked being sick the next day to prevent going to school.
